Purpose of Job
To support and work under the direction of the Childcare Manager, to support the provision of high quality, affordable, flexible childcare and education across the Nursery.
To act in accordance with all current and relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
To ensure that the highest standards of care and learning are provided for all children within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2017
To manage a room for children aged 0-30 months.
To ensure that the Nursery offers a safe, caring, exciting, challenging and stimulating environment that is appropriate for individual children and enables them all to reach their full potential.
Work in partnership with all Parents/Carers to ensure that all children, including those with additional needs are fully supported and integrated into the Nursery as outlined in the EYFS Learning & Development criteria.
To monitor, observe and assess children’s development across the entire Nursery, keep accurate and up to date EYFS records of their achievements and of any developmental concerns, as directed by the Manager.
To ensure the Early Years Foundation Stage is promoted and delivered to the highest standards within the Nursery, and its Learning and Development principles adhered to.
To support the Nursery Team by modelling, supporting and development good EYFS practice and high standards around the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, at all times.
To play a role in planning, monitoring and implementing all Nursery EYFS Policies and Procedures.
To work in partnership with Parents and Carers.
To support the effective communication between the Nursery staff and all partner organisations and professionals associated with Mosscroft Childcare LTD.
Due to the legal requirements on our Nursery, staff will be required to attend and participate in Training and/or Continuous Professional Development opportunities and staff meetings, outside of normal working hours. Reasonable notice of these sessions will be given by the Employer, where possible.
Flexibility will be required and changes in shift patterns may be deemed necessary.
To keep and ensure that accurate and up to date EYFS records and files of all children in the Nursery are held and maintained to a high standard and to provide regular feedback to parents about their children’s learning, development and progress.
To demonstrate effective time and resource management.
The duties and responsibilities in this Job Description are not restrictive and the Lead Practitioner may be required to undertake any other duties which may be required. Any such duties should not significantly change the general character of this post.
- Experience of working with 0 to 4 year olds
- Delivering equal opportunities in a setting
- Awareness of needs of children and families
- Appropriate Level 3 qualification or greater.
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Appropriate safeguarding training.
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Ability to provide and facilitate safe and creative education.
- Ability to work as a team member and demonstrate leadership skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense
- Ability to manager time and workload effectively.
- Ability to use IT based resources to support education and club administration
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or above (Required)
- room management: 2 years (Preferred)
- Nursery: 3 years (Preferred)
