Pre-School Manager

Grange Park Pre-School has an exceptional career opportunity available and our application process is now open for the position of Manager.

We’re seeking an accomplished childcare Manager who is passionate about Early Years development; an individual with expert knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and legislation; a leader with significant demonstrable experience in similar settings; a professional communicator; and a standout team player.

This varied and rewarding role is a permanent school term-time position; our fun and busy setting is host to forty two 2 to 4 year olds who come to learn and play each session; with responsibility for managing a friendly & experienced team of 12 practitioners; this position is supported by a Deputy Manager and reports to the Pre-School Committee Chairperson.

Grange Park Pre School is a leading setting, established over 20 years ago by the current Manager. The role offers a unique opportunity to train with the Founder and continue to build on the the long-standing success.

The position will start in April 2020; a full training and hand-over period will run until the end of July 2020 when the current Manager's tenure will be complete.

The role is term-time only hours and offers a competitive salary of up to £21,000 per annum depending on experience.


What does the role involve?

  • Overall responsibility for the provision of safe education of the highest quality

  • To ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are fulfilled, including child protection laws, OFSTED, policy & procedure and all record keeping

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintaining at all times that the children and team have the appropriate resources and support

  • Ultimate responsibility for the settings systems of observation, record keeping and assessment of attainment

  • Leading the team from the front and ensuring that staff are motivated and happy in their roles; including daily monitoring of the quality of teaching; regular staff meetings and appraisals; identifying training needs and ensuring continuous staff development

  • Team member recruitment in partnership with the Committee

  • Parent/Carer liaison regarding the curriculum, exchanging information regarding children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement

  • Ensuring that the Pre-School is a safe environment for the children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times and that fire drills are regularly practised

  • To promote the exemplary service offered by the preschool and ensure that service uptake targets are met

  • Marketing and fundraising in partnership with the Committee

  • Working together with the Committee, OFSTED and other professionals as necessary, ensuring that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented and reports provided where required; this will include regular Committee Meetings

  • Management of the Pre-School fees system and funding applications

  • Performing all childcare duties when support is required

  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Chair of the Committee in accordance with the Pre-School's business plan/objectives


What experience/qualifications does an applicant need?

  • Significant previous experience working with children in an Early Years setting is essential (min. 3 years) and currently working within this area is desirable

  • Degree in childcare/equivalent qualification or above

  • Experience managing a team is essential 

  • Excellent understanding of EYFS curriculum and child development

  • Experience of a parent-managed/parent-involving pre-school

  • No criminal record

  • Valid DBS will be required
